The MET airdrop, from LP Stimulus to Season 2

The Meteora airdrop rewarded liquidity providers, launch participants and early supporters with a large slice of MET supply. Here is who qualified, how claiming worked, what Season 2 changed — and how to recognize the fake claim sites that followed every announcement.

Start with SOL from a licensed, regulated exchange, then move it to your own Solana wallet to use DeFi apps like Meteora.

01 · BackgroundHow the Meteora airdrop came about

The MET airdrop was a long time coming. Its roots go back to Mercurial Finance, the stable-swap protocol Meteora grew out of, and to a promise made to liquidity providers years before the token existed.

After the FTX collapse in late 2022, Mercurial announced it would relaunch as Meteora and planned to migrate its MER token to a new MET token. That plan changed. In December 2023 Meteora introduced the LP Stimulus Package: instead of a straight token swap, a big share of the future MET supply would go to people who actually provided liquidity on Meteora. The airdrop was originally expected in early 2024. It finally arrived with the token generation event in October 2025.

The design choice matters. Rewarding LPs rather than mere wallet activity tied the airdrop to the thing Meteora most needs — deep, active liquidity. It also meant that eligibility depended on real capital at risk, with the impermanent loss and fees that come with it, rather than on clicking through tasks.

02 · Season 1Season 1 and the LP Stimulus Plan

Season 1 covered a campaign window from 31 January 2024 to 30 June 2025, roughly seventeen months. The official terms list five eligible groups:

  • LPs under the LP Stimulus Plan — DLMM beta users and long-term liquidity providers.
  • DLMM bin array creators — LPs who paid the non-refundable rent to open new price ranges.
  • Launchpad and launch pool participants.
  • DBC token creators — projects launched through the Dynamic Bonding Curve.
  • Expert and community contributors.

Activity was tracked as points. Community guides described a system that rewarded both the trading fees a position generated and the value it kept in pools over time, which favored LPs whose liquidity was actually used, not just parked. The exact formula was not spelled out in the official terms we reviewed, so treat any precise conversion rate you see quoted as unconfirmed.

The bin array creator category is a nice detail. In DLMM, the first LP to use a new range of bins pays a one-time rent of about 0.075 SOL per bin array that is never refunded. Rewarding those LPs compensated the people who paid to open up new parts of the price curve for everyone else.

03 · AllocationWho received what at TGE

The airdrop was one part of a broader day-one distribution. These allocations were fully unlocked at TGE, according to Meteora’s tokenomics page:

Community and user allocations of MET, unlocked at TGE.
Recipient groupShare of supplyMET
LP Stimulus Plan15%150,000,000
Mercurial Holders15%150,000,000
Jupiter Stakers3%30,000,000
Launchpads and Launchpool Ecosystem3%30,000,000
Off-chain Contributors2%20,000,000
M3M3 Plan2%20,000,000

That is 40% of supply going to users, LPs and community groups — before counting the 5% Mercurial Reserve and the 3% TGE reserve for exchanges and market makers. The remaining 52% belongs to the team and the Meteora Reserve and vests over 72 months. Our MET token guide has the full allocation and unlock schedule.

Jupiter stakers deserve a note. Because Meteora and Jupiter share founding roots, JUP stakers received 3% of MET supply. They were auto-enrolled into Liquidity Distributor positions, explained below, rather than receiving tokens in their wallets.

04 · ClaimsHow claiming worked

Eligible wallets could claim from the TGE onward through Meteora’s official claim flow. The FAQ lists Phantom, Backpack, Jupiter Mobile and Solflare as wallets that worked for claiming. Recipients had two options for taking their allocation.

Option 1

Claim MET tokens

The straightforward route: connect the eligible wallet, sign the claim, and receive MET as a regular SPL token, free to hold, stake or sell.

Option 2

Liquidity Distributor NFT

Recipients could instead take their allocation as a position in MET’s DAMM v2 launch pool. These positions supplied the token’s initial liquidity and earned trading fees.

The Liquidity Distributor was capped at 10% of supply, or 100 million MET: 3% auto-assigned to JUP stakers and 7% available first-come, first-served to registered recipients. Registration closed a few days before TGE. MET’s launch pool was single-sided and spanned $0.50 to $7.50 per token, with a fee scheduler that started high and declined — a design meant to discourage snipers in the first minutes of trading.

The claim deadline is a small cautionary tale in itself. The Season 1 terms and the FAQ gave different end dates — one in January 2026, one in April 2026. Both have passed, so the difference no longer matters for claiming, but it is a good reason to read the official terms closely whenever a deadline is involved.

05 · Season 2Season 2: rewarding DLMM and DAMM v2 LPs

Meteora ran a second campaign, LP Stimulus Season 2, covering 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026. It picked up where Season 1 ended and focused on liquidity providers in DLMM and DAMM v2 pools — the two core pool types today.

Media outlets reported specific pool sizes for Season 2. We have not seen those figures confirmed in the official terms, so we don’t repeat them here. If you were eligible, the official terms and the claim interface were the authoritative places to check your allocation. The claim window has now closed, and any site offering a “late claim” should be treated as fake.

06 · TodayPoints, staking and what comes next

With both seasons closed, two programs carry the idea forward.

Comet Points, announced in December 2025, are earned by staking MET and using Meteora products. Planned redemptions include eligibility for future airdrops or presales and a rewards store. The detailed rules have not been fully published, so points are best treated as a possible bonus rather than a promise.

Referral Staking pays MET stakers from 10% of DLMM protocol fees in USDC. It is not an airdrop, but it is the current, ongoing way that Meteora shares value with token holders. Referrers also earn a share of protocol fees from LPs they bring in.

For anyone hoping to qualify for whatever comes next, the historical pattern is the best guide: Meteora rewarded real liquidity — fees generated, value kept in pools over time and new ranges opened. Providing liquidity carries genuine risk, though, including impermanent loss. Farming a hypothetical airdrop is a weak reason to take on that risk; our guide to earning fees on Meteora explains how to judge whether a pool pays enough on its own.

07 · SafetyFake airdrop scams and how to avoid them

Every airdrop attracts imitators, and Meteora’s was no exception. Lookalike claim sites — including domains on free hosting such as “meteora-claim.pages.dev” — showed up in search results around the TGE. Meteora’s FAQ warns users to rely only on links from official channels.

Fake claims usually follow a script. A post, reply, DM or sponsored search result tells you an allocation is waiting. The site looks right, sometimes pixel-perfect. You connect a wallet, and the site asks you to sign something — not a claim, but an approval that lets it move your tokens, or a transaction that sends your SOL away. Some ask outright for a seed phrase to “verify” your wallet.

  1. Start from a bookmark

Navigate to meteora.ag or docs.meteora.ag yourself. Never follow a claim link from a message, even one that appears to come from a known account — accounts get hijacked.

  2. Check the dates

Look up the claim window in the official terms. Both past seasons are closed; a site claiming otherwise is fake.

  3. Use a burner wallet

If you claim anything new in future, use a fresh wallet holding little else. A malicious approval then cannot touch your main funds.

  4. Read the signature request

A claim should show tokens coming in. If your wallet’s simulation shows SOL or tokens leaving, or an approval for an unknown program, reject it.

  5. Revoke and move if in doubt

If you signed something suspicious, revoke approvals and move remaining funds to a new wallet. If you typed your seed phrase anywhere, assume the wallet is compromised.

The safety check in the hero turns these habits into a quick score. Tick the ones you already follow; the unchecked items with the highest weights are where to start.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Meteora airdrop still claimable?

No. The Season 1 claim window has closed, and the Season 2 claim window ran from 21 July to 21 October 2026 and has also closed. Any site offering to let you claim a past Meteora airdrop today should be treated as a scam unless Meteora announces a new campaign on its official channels.

Who was eligible for the Season 1 MET airdrop?

According to the official terms, eligible groups included LPs under the LP Stimulus Plan (DLMM beta users and long-term LPs), DLMM bin array creators, launchpad and launch pool participants, DBC token creators and expert or community contributors. Former Mercurial holders and JUP stakers received separate allocations.

What was the Meteora LP Stimulus Plan?

It was Meteora’s program to reward liquidity providers with MET. Announced in late 2023, it replaced the earlier plan to migrate Mercurial’s MER token and reserved 15% of MET supply for LPs. Its Season 1 campaign window ran for about 17 months, and the tokens were distributed at the MET launch.

Will there be a Meteora Season 3 airdrop?

No Season 3 has been confirmed in Meteora’s official documentation at the time of writing. Meteora has introduced Comet Points, earned by staking MET and using the product, with possible airdrop eligibility among the planned uses. Watch only official channels for announcements.

How do I spot a fake Meteora airdrop?

Fake claim sites usually arrive through ads, replies or DMs, use lookalike domains, create urgency and ask you to connect a wallet and sign an approval or enter a seed phrase. Real Meteora claims were announced on official channels and never required a seed phrase or an upfront payment.

Need SOL before your first pool?

Every Meteora action starts with SOL for fees and liquidity. A regulated exchange with card and bank deposits is the simplest, safest on-ramp — then withdraw to your own wallet.
